It is free, applied automatically at checkout on tesla.com/en_gb when you open the link before ordering, and credited after delivery. It is not a cash discount, not a Full Self-Driving trial, and does not cover the Cybertruck or Tesla solar — neither is sold in the UK.

The £3,750 Electric Car Grant — and why Tesla is excluded
The Electric Car Grant is the question UK buyers actually ask before ordering, and the answer for Tesla is uncomfortable: Tesla models are excluded, not merely priced out of the band. Plenty of pages still imply otherwise.

The register
The benefit: 650 free Supercharging miles
One benefit, stated plainly: a new Model 3 or Model Y ordered through a referral link earns 650 miles of free Supercharging, credited to your Tesla account after delivery and usable at any Tesla Supercharger until spent. There is no separate cash discount tied to the referral in 2026, and no free Full Self-Driving trial in the UK. Programme verified 2026-07-13

What are 650 miles actually worth?
It depends on two moving numbers, so we won't invent a single figure. Take your car's efficiency (miles per kWh from the trip screen), divide 650 by it to estimate the kWh the credit covers, then multiply by the pence-per-kWh the Tesla app shows for your usual Supercharger. Both inputs vary by site, time and weather — treat the result as an estimate and re-check live pricing in the Tesla app.

Which Teslas qualify
Only two models carry a UK referral benefit in 2026 — and both give exactly the same thing. There is no thin page-per-model here; the detail lives on this one reference, with short model notes for the Model 3 and Model Y.

A new Model 3 or Model Y both earn 650 free Supercharging miles on a new order — nothing about the referral favours one trim, so choose on range, space and budget. Model S and Model X were phased out of the referral programme across the UK and Europe during 2026; some older pages still quote a “£500 off” figure tied to legacy S/X terms, so treat that as stale and check tesla.com/en_gb before believing any cash-off claim. The Cybertruck isn't sold in the UK (no factory right-hand-drive, plus regulatory hurdles), so there is no Cybertruck referral benefit here.

The referral shows in your order summary before payment. If it isn't there, start again from the link — it cannot be added after the order is placed.
Take delivery, then use the miles
The 650 free Supercharging miles are credited to your Tesla account after delivery and can be spent at any Tesla Supercharger until used up.

Common mistakes that void it:
- Ordering first, then trying to add the code — it can't be done retroactively.
- Clearing cookies or switching browsers between opening the link and ordering.
- Assuming a coupon code — there is no code to type; the link does the work.
- Expecting an FSD trial — in the UK the benefit is Supercharging miles.
UK incentives & finance: what stacks (and what doesn't)
A referral is free and overlaps with almost nothing you'd otherwise get — but the biggest UK misconception is the £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
Referral vs the £3,750 Electric Car Grant
The 2026 Electric Car Grant is worth up to £3,750, applied automatically at the point of sale. Two gates decide it: a list-price cap of £37,000, and an environmental criterion applying to the manufacturer — which is the one that excludes Tesla, at any price, and most Tesla configurations start above that cap. So for the majority of Tesla buyers the grant simply doesn't apply, and there's nothing to “stack”. The referral, by contrast, applies whatever the price.

Where finance fits — cash, PCP or lease
How you pay changes the monthly maths, not the referral: the 650 miles attach to the new-car order whether you pay cash, use PCP, or lease — provided the order runs through a referral link. We keep finance separate from the code tool on purpose, so nothing reads like an undisclosed lease pitch dressed up as the referral perk. Cash is cheapest overall but ties up capital; PCP lowers monthlies with a final balloon and mileage limits; a personal lease is fixed-cost with nothing owned at the end; and for company-car drivers an EV's low Benefit-in-Kind rate makes salary sacrifice one of the strongest UK levers going — separate from the referral.
Myths vs the truth (UK vs USA)
A lot of confusion comes from UK buyers reading US referral pages. The programmes look similar, but the benefit is genuinely different.
Not for Cybertruck or solar
Neither is sold in the UK, so there is no Cybertruck or Tesla-solar referral benefit here, whatever US pages say.
Not stackable with the EV grant
There is nothing to stack: Tesla is outside the 2026 Electric Car Grant on the manufacturer criterion, not on price, so no configuration qualifies.

Why there's no FSD trial in the UK yet
FSD (Supervised) isn't approved for use on UK roads as of mid-2026. It's under review by the vehicle regulator, with a realistic arrival of late 2026 to early 2027. Until it's road-legal here, Tesla can't hand UK buyers a usable trial — so the benefit is Supercharging miles instead. Check the current status on the Tesla UK FSD page. Referrer rewards, meanwhile, are Tesla Credits capped at 10 successful referrals per year; reported amounts differ across sources, so we don't quote a figure until it's confirmed on tesla.com/en_gb.
Key terms, defined
UK referral pages often reuse US terminology loosely. Here's exactly what each pair of terms means — and doesn't — so nothing above gets misread.
- Referral code vs referral link
- A referral code is the short string tied to one owner’s Tesla account (for example, the string inside
ts.la/<code>). A referral link is that code wrapped in a URL. Opening the link is what pre-applies the code to your session — you never type the code in as a coupon. - “FSD” vs “FSD (Supervised)” in the UK
- “FSD” is the shorthand US buyers use; the product Tesla actually sells today is FSD (Supervised) — a driver-assist package, not driverless software. In the UK it is not yet approved for road use (pending VCA review), so a UK referral cannot include a free trial of it. You can still buy FSD (Supervised) outright on tesla.com/en_gb, entirely separately from any referral code; see myths vs the truth.
- Tesla Credits vs Supercharging miles
- These are two different rewards for two different people in the same referral. Tesla Credits go to the owner who shares their code, capped at 10 successful referrals a year, redeemable for Supercharging, software or the Tesla Shop. Supercharging miles (650 of them) go to the buyer who orders through that code. Sharing nets you Credits; ordering nets the buyer miles — not the other way round.
- New order vs inventory car
- A new order is a car configured from scratch and placed through a referral link. An inventory car is an already-built car sitting in UK stock. Inventory orders placed through a referral link generally still qualify for the referral benefit, but the listing page can differ from a custom build — check the specific listing on tesla.com/en_gb before assuming.
- Electric Car Grant vs EV Chargepoint Grant
- Two unrelated UK government schemes get confused because both have “EV grant” in the name. The Electric Car Grant is up to £3,750 off a new EV’s price at the point of sale, but only under a £37,000 cap most Teslas exceed. The EV Chargepoint Grant is a separate ~£350–£500 contribution toward installing a home charger, aimed at renters and flat owners. Neither touches the referral, which is free and unrelated to both.
