FSD Went Subscription-Only in the UK on 22 May 2026 — What That Means for Referrals

On 22 May 2026 Tesla withdrew the one-time Full Self-Driving purchase across Europe and the United Kingdom, leaving a subscription priced at £99 per month. This entry records what that changes for a UK referral, which is less than most coverage implies.
What it does not change
The UK referral benefit. It remains approximately 650 miles of free Supercharging on a new Model 3 or Model Y. A pricing change to a software product does not alter a reward denominated in charging distance.
Why the UK benefit is not an FSD trial
Because approval, not pricing, is the gate. North America's referral benefit is a three-month FSD (Supervised) trial, and North America removed its one-time purchase on 14 February 2026. Europe and the UK took the equivalent pricing step in May and retained charging-distance rewards, because the regulatory position on supervised self-driving in these markets has followed its own, slower timetable.
For the mainland, an EU-level discussion at the end of June 2026 was discussion-only, with the next window in October 2026 and EU-wide approval possibly slipping into 2027. The UK runs a separate approval process again. A subscription price existing is therefore not evidence that a benefit shaped like a trial is available here.
