Why There's No Free FSD Trial With a UK Tesla Referral (2026 Timeline)

UK Tesla referrals give Supercharging miles, not the US 3-month FSD trial — because FSD (Supervised) isn’t road-legal in Britain yet. Here’s the honest timeline.

If you've read a US Tesla referral page, you'll have seen the promise of a 3-month Full Self-Driving trial. UK buyers keep asking us where theirs is. The honest answer: it doesn't exist here yet — and here's why.

FSD isn't road-legal in the UK yet

FSD (Supervised) is not approved for use on UK roads as of mid-2026. Without approval, Tesla can't hand UK buyers a usable trial, so the UK referral benefit is 650 free Supercharging miles instead. Check the live status on the Tesla UK FSD page.

The realistic timeline

UK approval is under regulatory review, with a realistic arrival of late 2026 to early 2027 on current signals. Timelines like this slip, so we won't promise a date — we'll update this post when the status genuinely changes, and bump the “updated” date honestly.

What to do in the meantime

Use a referral for what it actually gives you in the UK — Supercharging miles — and judge FSD separately if and when it launches. See the full UK vs USA comparison.
