Tesla Referral Eligibility After the March 2026 Shake-Up: The UK Model List
Tesla’s global referral-eligible list now reads Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Translated into what actually qualifies for a UK order, that list is shorter — here’s the honest before-and-after.
We covered the headline changes from Tesla's March 2026 referral overhaul in our first note on this — the reported $250 credit, the loyalty-discount cut, the new 12-month expiry. This is the narrower question a UK buyer actually needs answered: after the dust settled, which cars can you order in the UK and still get a referral benefit?
The global list, read literally
As reported via Tesla's Refer & Earn support page and covered by Teslarati, the referral-eligible vehicle list globally is now Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Model S and Model X are off it. Read on its own, that's a three-model list.
The UK list is shorter, and always has been
Cybertruck is not sold or road-legal in the UK, so it was never a live option here regardless of what the global eligibility list says. That leaves exactly two models with a genuine UK referral benefit: Model 3 and Model Y. This matches what our eligibility table has said all year — the March 2026 change formalised the global list, but it didn't add anything a UK buyer can actually order.
Before and after, for a UK buyer specifically
Before the phase-out completed earlier in 2026, Model S and Model X carried a referral benefit in the UK too, occasionally with a separate legacy “£500 off” figure attached to older inventory terms — a figure we've always flagged as possibly stale rather than stated as current. After the March 2026 change formalises their removal, the practical UK list is unambiguous: Model 3 and Model Y, both earning the identical 650 free Supercharging miles. Nothing about the number changed; what changed is that a model list which was already thinning in practice is now confirmed thin on paper too.
Why this matters if you're cross-shopping
If you were holding out hope that a Model X might still qualify because you'd seen an older page mention it, this is the confirmation that it doesn't — not in the UK, and now not globally either. Buyers choosing between a Model 3 and a Model Y don't need to weigh referral eligibility at all, since both qualify identically; see our Model 3 and Model Y notes for the model-specific detail beyond the referral.
What we still won't state as UK-confirmed
The reported $250 referrer credit and the 12-month expiry are global figures we discussed in our earlier note on this change; neither is confirmed on tesla.com/en_gb as a £ amount or a UK-specific expiry as of this publish. This piece only concerns itself with which cars qualify, not what the referrer receives — keeping those two questions separate is deliberate, since conflating “does my car qualify” with “what does the referrer get” is where a lot of confusion starts.
The takeaway
Two models, one identical benefit, confirmed rather than assumed: Model 3 and Model Y are where a UK Tesla referral now formally and informally lives.
