Your Tesla Delivery Day Checklist for Protecting the 650-Mile Benefit

A beginner-friendly delivery-day checklist for UK Tesla buyers who used a referral code: what to check on handover day so the 650 free Supercharging miles land correctly.

By delivery day, the hard part of the referral is already behind you — the benefit was locked in when you confirmed your order, weeks or months earlier. But a handful of simple checks on handover day make sure nothing about that benefit gets muddled on the way to your account. Here's the beginner checklist.

1. Bring your order confirmation, not just your memory

If you saved your order confirmation or a screenshot of the order summary showing the referral (as we suggest in our first-time buyer timing guide), have it accessible on delivery day. You almost certainly won't need it, but if any question comes up about which order or VIN you're taking delivery of, it's the clearest record you have.

2. Confirm the order you're collecting matches the order you placed

Occasionally a build slot or specific VIN changes before delivery for logistics reasons unrelated to the referral. That's normal and doesn't affect a referral already attached to your order — but if you're ever asked to sign for what looks like a genuinely different order (not just a VIN swap on the same order), check that before signing, since a truly new order is the one scenario that could mean starting the referral question over.

3. Don't expect the credit on delivery day itself

The 650 free Supercharging miles are credited to your Tesla account after delivery, not the moment you collect the car. We don't have a confirmed, published figure for exactly how long that takes, so don't treat same-day absence as a problem — check back in the Tesla app over the days that follow rather than assuming something's wrong on day one.

4. Check the app periodically, not obsessively

Once you're a few days past delivery, it's reasonable to check the Tesla app's charging or referral section every so often. If a genuinely extended period passes with no credit and no explanation, that's the point to contact Tesla support directly — we won't invent a specific "wait this many days then complain" figure, because we haven't seen one confirmed.

5. Check it against your own account, not a family member's

The credit lands on the Tesla account tied to the order — the account you used to configure and pay, not necessarily whichever account is logged into the car's touchscreen day to day. If more than one person in your household uses Tesla accounts, make sure you're checking the right one before assuming the credit hasn't arrived.

6. Keep the delivery paperwork with your order paperwork

File your delivery acceptance document alongside your original order confirmation. Neither one is likely to matter again once the miles show up — but if it ever does, having both dated documents in one place beats trying to reconstruct the timeline from memory months later.

The one thing delivery day can't fix

If you reach delivery day and realise there was never a referral on your order at all, that's not a delivery-day problem to solve — see our deeper look at after-order scenarios for why it's consistently too late by this point, and where the only real fix is a future order.
